So this is the beginning of the blog. Some background:
I started smoking when I was fifteen. I started smoking regularly when I was sixteen. My first job was in a restaurant as a dishwasher, and that was the only way to get a break.
The owner of the restaurant was a real health freak, though, so we'd have to wait until he left work to go out back and smoke. Since then, it's been something that I can rely on.
It doesn't matter how bad my day has been or how upset I am with people, it's something that I can always have with me to pick me up. Here are my plans to help me quit:
I've started running. That's one. I'm not very good at it yet, because I haven't ever really done it before, and it kind of sucks, because I'm currently running in New Balance
walking shoes (not to knock them, but they so aren't made for running. Their name is not a joke). But I'm going to get real running shoes next payday. Hopefully the money I save
on cigarettes will at least add a bit to that. One of the other things I'm doing is this blog.
I feel like it will make me more accountable. I'll have to think about smoking before
I do it and weigh whether or not it's worth it. I've told everyone I know. I set a date. I've done everything by the book on this one. Let's hope it takes.
